Maynard was named a First-Team All-American on 13 teams in his final two seasons, plus was invited to compete in the Senior Bowl and was extended an invitation to the NFL Combine. The New York Giants selected Maynard in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft where he spent his first four professional seasons.
