Richards, who at the time of his induction was in his 22^nd season as the head men’s tennis coach at Ball State, had guided the Cardinals to 10 straight Mid-American Championships plus has built BSU into one of the most prominent programs on the regional and national levels. Since his initial season at BSU in 1973, Richards has amassed a 336-137 career record and a 112-30 Mid-American mark, including a 69-2 league record over the last 11 seasons. Richards’ teams have not lost a dual-match in the MAC in the last four seasons, and the Cardinals are 62-1 against MAC schools in the last 10 campaigns. BSU has posted a 30-10 mark against Big 10 schools over the last five seasons, and since 1984, the Cardinals are 40-17 against Big 10 competition. Richards is a 1970 graduate of Western Michigan.
