NOTES: Member of the Ball State coaching staff in 1976 when the Cardinals won their first Mid-American Conference Championship, and was a defensive assistant on the 1977 team which ranked ninth in the nation in total defense . . . helped Wisconsin’s 1978 team to its first winning season in 11 years . . . head coach at Montana State in 1982 and guided the team to a 6-5 overall record and a tie for the Big Sky Championship with a 5-2 league record . . . coached the defensive secondary for the Kansas City Chiefs and led the unit to an NFL interception record with 120 in four seasons . . . coached six NFL All-Pro defensive backs with the Chiefs . . . served as Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator in 1988 when the team led the National Football League in rushing defense . . . led Rutgers to a 6-5 record in 1991 and a 7-4 mark in 1992, the school’s first back-to-back winning seasons in 24 years . . . coached the Frankfurt Galaxy to the 2003 World Bowl Championship for NFL Europe and was named the NFL Europe Coach of the Year . . . head coach at Rutgers from 1990-95 where Ball State head coach Stan Parrish served as his assistant head coach and offensive coordinator . . . owns an overall head coaching record of 68-58-3 at the high school, collegiate and professional level.
