A 2007 NCAA Division III Championship qualifier, Claudia Borlee enters her second season as the volunteer assistant coach for the Ball State cross country and track & field program. She will work primarily with the distance runners.
This past cross country season, Borlee helped coach junior Ali Bishel back to the NCAA Championships, as she placed 67th at the meet with a career-fast 6K clocking of 21:04.7. Bishel also earned All-MAC First Team and Academic All-MAC accolades after placing fourth at the 2009 MAC Cross Country Championships with a 6K time of 22:33.0.
During the 2009 track & field campaign, Borlee helped guide Bishel to a pair of MAC Individual Championships, as well as a runner-up finish. At the indoor meet, Bishel earned the Women's Most Outstanding Track Performer award, as well as First Team All-MAC honors, after winning the two longest events; the 3,000m run (9:43.23) and the 5,000m run (16:39.80). At the outdoor meet, Bishel was named to the All-MAC Second Team after placing second in the 10,000m run (35:59.11) and fourth in the 5,000m run (17:21.55).
Borlee is a 2008 graduate of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where she competed in cross country and track & field for four years, while earning a bachelor's degree in psychology and kinesiology. A two-time WIAC Outdoor Championship medalist, she was a senior co-captain of the track & field squad, while co-captaining the cross country squad for her final two seasons.
Borlee's credentials include working as the speed and agility coach for Momentum Sports Fitness, where she was responsible for instructing high school students how to use speed and develop mental toughness and confidence.
