Ledbetter Named MAC Defensive Player of the Week

CLEVELAND - - For her part in helping guide the Ball State women's volleyball team to a 2-0 record last week, junior libero Sophie Ledbetter has been named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Ledbetter, who earns the honor for the third time in her career, paced all MAC players with a 5.44 digs-per-set average opening weekend, while helping guide the Cardinals to wins at Notre Dame and versus Xavier.
She started the season with a match-high 26 digs versus the Fighting Irish, playing a large role in helping BSU earn a reverse sweep of its in-state rival and ACC foe. She was also a perfect 17-for-17 in serve receive for the match.
Ledbetter followed with 23 digs in the four-set win over Xavier, which finished the 2025 season ranked 27th in the RPI rankings. She also remained perfect in serve receive, going 12-for-12 to raise her opening weekend mark to 29-for-29.
The Ball State women's volleyball team returns to action Thursday when it battles Western Kentucky at 6 p.m. in its first of three matches at Tru by Hilton Beavercreek Invitational hosted by Wright State.
