MUNCIE, Ind. – Another athletic year quickly flew by for the Cardinals. Ball State student-athletes, coaches and teams accomplished several notable feats in 2018-19.

Football Team Stuffs WMU in OT for Exciting Senior Night Win

The Ball State football team sent its seniors out in style with a thrilling overtime victory over Western Michigan in a nationally televised game on ESPN2.

The Cardinals stuffed the Broncos on a two-point conversion attempt in the first overtime and celebrated a 42-41 victory over their MAC West Division rival.

The Tuesday night affair was exciting throughout, with ties at 7, 14, 28 and 35. Western Michigan scored with 1:48 left in regulation to force overtime.

Ball State had the first crack in OT and moved the ball to the 1-yard line on a reverse pass from Corey Lacanaria to Riley Miller. The Cardinals scored two plays later on a jump pass from Drew Plitt to Kyle Schrank, and Morgan Hagee added the extra point.

Western Michigan scored in five plays on its possession and then decided to go for two and the win. Ball State's Jimmy Daw and Bryce Cosby busted up the play, breaking through the line to corral WMU running back Levante Bellamy. It was a monumental stop against a Broncos team that ran for 361 yards on the night.

Plitt completed 21-of-26 passes for 258 yards and tossed three touchdowns in his second start of the year. He found Justin Hall nine times for 117 yards.
