Ball State Stands Second Over No. 18 BYU

DENVER, Colo.,-- In front of the largest crowd to watch Denver gymnastics the Ball State Cardinals stood in second place scoring a 195.450 behind Denver (196.750). BYU stood third with a score of 194.875 and Bowling Green placed fourth with a team total of 194.525.
"I'm really happy with our performance tonight," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "We had a few mistakes here and there but the team managed to stay strong throughout the meet."
The Ball State gymnastics team started the night on beam. Kaitlyn Menzione led the beam squad with a score of 9.800 landing her in seventh place.
On floor Menzione and Clare Collins tied in seventh place with scores of 9.825.
The Cardinals moved to vault where they managed an event total of 49.075. Arden Hudson earned a new personal record with a score of 9.850 landing her in fourth place.
On bars the team managed the best team total for the season scoring a 49.025. Maddie Macdonald placed third with a 9.875. Jordyn Penny stood tenth with a score of 9.825.
Kaitlyn Menzione stood fourth for her highest all-around score of a 39.225.
"I'm excited to return home again and compete against another Mid-American Conference team," Saleem stated. "I'm also excited to have Halleigh out on the floor with us as part of the team, it should be a very fun meet."
The Ball State Cardinals return to Worthen Arena Sunday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. EST to face Bowling Green in Worthen Arena.
