March 10, 2017 | Gymnastics
KENT, Ohio-- The Ball State gymnastics team earned a new season high beam score of 48.900 in 196.425-195.000 loss to Kent State Friday, Mar. 10 in the M.A.C. Center.
"The team had a really great week of competition," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "Tuesday against Western Michigan and UIC we scored a season high team score and tonight we improved our season beam score. Although I felt like our scores didn't reflect our performances tonight I'm encouraged that this team can confidently go into the Mid-American Conference Championships and do well. "
The team started the competition on bars where Kayla Beckler and Jordyn Penny tied for sixth place with scores of 9.725.
On vault Sarah Ebeyer placed second with a 9.775.Â
Ebeyer also placed third on floor with a score of 9.825. Kaitlyn Menzione stood fourth with a 9.800.
On beam Baylee Bell claimed a new personal best score of 9.900 earning her second place overall.Â
"I'm really proud of this team," Saleem stated. "I can't wait to see what they can do at MAC Championships this year."
The Cardinals return home to prepare for the Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday, Mar. 18 in Bowling Green, Ohio to battle for the 2017 MAC Championship title.Â
