Women's Tennis Sweeps IUPUI, 7-0

The Cardinals came out of the gates strong today winning all three doubles matches over the Jaguars. The No. 1 Ball State twosome of Audrey Berger and Rebecca Herrington were the first off the court after posting a 6-2 victory over Samantha Mayer and Sara Sherif. On court three, Isabelle Dohanics paired up with teammate Toni Ormond and would clinch the doubles point for Ball State after their 6-1 defeat over Marina Schneiger and Molly Nguyen. The Cardinals No. 2 doubles tandem Julia Sbircea and Rosalinda Calderon were also winners today.
Ball State took all six singles matches from IUPUI. Five of the six matches were won by straight set decisions. Carmen Blanco gave Ball State a 2-0 advantage after taking down Sherif, 6-1, 6-2 on court two. Herrington who continues to play strong as a true freshman, did not give up a game in either one of her sets, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles over Schneiger. With the Cardinals up 3-0, Berger gave Ball State its match point on court four with her 6-1, 6-4 defeat over Mariella Pessina.
After that, Peyton Gollhofer, Sbircea and Ormond all took matches over their respective opponents to close out today's competition over IUPUI.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues non-conference action Saturday at home against Youngstown State a 1:30 p.m. ?in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center or Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting.
