MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University men's tennis team improved to 4-4 by defeating Xavier, 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
Andrew Stutz teamed up with Conner Andersen on the top court to clinch the doubles point for the Cardinals with a 6-4 take down over Xavier's Jeremy Schneider and Jack Dykema. Marko Guzina and Matt Helm also helped the Cardinals doubles win as they were the first twosome off the court. Marko Guzina and Helm defeated Trent Smith and Connor LaFavre by a score of 6-2 at the No. 3 position.
Ball State continued to play strong in singles action. Lucas Andersen improved to 5-2 at the No. 1 slot with his straight set victory (6-1, 6-4) over the Musketeers Schneider. Marko Guzina defeated Dykema on court three after not giving up a game in the first set winning 6-0 and then won the match in the second 6-2. Patrick Downs also beat his respective opponent in straight sets and teammate Nemanja Guzina registered a three set thriller over Trent Smith at No. 4 singles.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues spring action on the road next Sunday when the Cardinals play at Cleveland State. First serve is a 10 a.m.
