Men's Tennis Dominates Doubleheader

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team swept its doubleheader on Saturday, winning over Detroit Mercy and Indiana University Southeast. The Cardinals improved their overall record to 3-4 with today's victories.
The Cardinals started both matches off quickly after taking the doubles point. Lucas Andersen and Andrew Stutz won 6-3 on the top court against the Titans in the early match and so did Nemanja Guzina and Conner Andersen at the No. 3 position. Ball State took all three doubles matches fairly easily over IU Southeast. Stutz and Conner Andersen along with Marko Guzina and Patrick Downs only gave up one game on their respective courts to the Grenadiers.
In singles, Ball State took four of the six matches from Detroit Mercy for the 5-2 victory. Lucas Andersen, Nemanja Guzina and Patrick Downs all won in straight sets while Marko Guzina took a three set thriller on court three.
Against IU Southeast, the Cardinals took all six singles matches from the Grenadiers all in straight sets. Stutz did not give up a game in either set winning 6-0, 6-0 over Garrett Fensler on the top court. Matt Helm also defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 position.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues spring action at home when it plays Xavier Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
