Opening Tip
• Ball State returns to action Monday with a meeting against Longwood for the third straight season. The Cardinals defeated the Lancers in Muncie two years ago and did so again last year as part of the @EKUHoops Classic in Richmond, Kentucky.
• Longwood is coming off a victory over Division III Averett University to snap a three-game losing streak. Darrion Allen leads the Lancers in scoring at 15.9 points per game.
• Ball State played 10 games in the first 30 days of the season before a break for final exams. The Cardinals have been off from competition since a Dec. 10 overtime win versus Eastern Kentucky.
• Sean Sellers scored a career-high 32 points against EKU, becoming the first Cardinal to surpass the 30-point mark in a game since Bo Calhoun at Toledo on Feb. 28, 2015. Sellers tied his career-high with seven 3-pointers, one shy of the school record set by Dennis Trammell against Marshall on Feb. 6, 2005.
• Sophomore center Trey Moses posted his second double-double of the season against EKU with a career-high 18 points and 14 rebounds. He has scored a career high in back-to-back games. Moses is averaging a double-double over the past seven games at 11.9 points and 11.1 rebounds per contest.
• Tayler Persons recorded a career-high five steals in the EKU game, marking the most by a Ball State player this season. The Cardinals' 10 steals as a team matched the most in a game for the program over the past four seasons.
• Ball State has been outrebounded in only one of its 10 games (Nov. 27 at Valparaiso). The Cardinals are outrebounding their opponents by nearly six boards per game.
3's in Bunches
• Sean Sellers became the first Ball State player ever to make seven 3-pointers in a game twice in a career when he did it Dec. 10 against EKU.
• He also made seven last year at home against Eastern Michigan.
• Ball State has had a player make at least seven 3's in a game nine times in program history, and three of those have come in the past two seasons (one for Francis Kiapway).
Overtime Success
• Ball State's 91-86 victory Dec. 10 over Eastern Kentucky was the program's fifth win in its past six overtime games.
• The Cardinals were a perfect 4-0 in overtime games last year, including a pair of wins in the CIT. The team is 1-1 this year.
