
Gymnastics Inks Two Athletes to NLI's for 2017-18

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State gymnastics fourth-year head coach Joanna Saleem announced the signing of two athletes to national letters of intent during the early signing period.

Brooke Johnson (Lakewood Ranch, Fla. / Lakewood Ranch High School) and Claudia Goyco (Buford, Ga. / Buford High School) will join the Ball State gymnastics team, starting in the 2017-18 season.

"I am really excited to have both Brooke and Claudia join our Cardinal gymnastics family," Saleem said.

Johnson, an all-around gymnast from Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics qualified for both state and regional competitions in 2016.

"Brooke is a great young lady who will bring an outstanding work ethic with her to Ball State," Saleem stated. "She is a strong all around gymnast who will be vying for a spot on all four events. Her strength on bars will make an immediate impact four our program."

Goyco, an all-around gymnast from Gymnastix Training Center showcased her talent at the 2016 Regionals where she was named the all-around champion with a 36.025. She placed 2nd and earned a personal best in the all-around at the 2016 State Championships scoring a 36.550.

"Claudia will be an immediate asset to the program," Saleem said. "This spunky young lady has four strong events but should make quick contributions to our line ups on bars and vault."
