MUNCIE, Ind. - Sachin Kirtane, who was named the Ball State women's tennis head coach earlier this month, has signed his first recruit. The Cardinals welcome Mississippi State transfer Sydney Hrehor to their 2023-24 roster.
"I am very excited to add Sydney to the Ball State family," Kirtane said. "She is an outstanding person and has had some very good results at Mississippi State. I feel like with her experience playing in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), she will be a huge asset to the program. Hrehor is a hard worker and very dedicated. I am looking forward to the next three years of her career."
Hrehor, a 5-9 sophomore from Cumming, Ga., spent her first season at Mississippi State playing both singles and doubles. She played mainly at the No. 3 doubles position for the Bulldogs, earning wins over Arkansas State and Tennessee State.
Hrehor ended the season with a doubles victory over the No. 2 team in the country, a duo from Texas A&M. She also played singles in the fall for Mississippi State, claiming four victories.
The Cardinals are coming off another successful season that saw Ball State win its third Mid-American Conference Tournament title while also making its fourth trip to the NCAA's.
