Men’s Tennis Sweeps MAC Weekly Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Ball State men's tennis team swept the Mid-American Conference weekly honors. Sophomore Nathaniel Webster earned the league's singles player and MAC scholar athlete of the week while the twosome of Eli Herran and Jacks Lancaster were tabbed the MAC's doubles team of the week.
Webster went 2-0 at the No. 1 singles slot this week for the Cardinals. Webster opened last week with a a 7-6, 6-0 victory against Big Ten foe Purdue's top player, Michal Wozniak. Webster's win helped the Cardinals to a 4-3 defeat over Boilermakers Wednesday in West Lafayette.
On Friday, the Cardinals returned to Muncie to take on the Xavier Musketeers. That match, Webster came back from dropping the first set to Ryan Cahill of Xavier at No. 1 singles. He managed to fight back to take frames two and three by a score of 6-2. Webster's success helped the Cardinals clinch a 6-1 victory over the Musketeers.
Herran and Lancaster helped Ball State claim the doubles point at Big Ten foe Purdue Wednesday in West Lafayette. The duo would be the last match on against the Boilermakers. They paired up on court No. 3 earning a 7-6 victory over the Boilermakers Milledge Cossu and Mujtaba Al-Khan to earn the first point of the match.
The twosome continued that success versus Xavier on Friday after clinching the doubles point against the Musketeers on court No. 3. Herran and Lancaster registered a 6-3 defeat against Xavier's Charlie Temming and Jorge Santamaria.
The twosome helped Ball State go 2-0 last week with a 4-3 win over Purdue and a 6-1 victory against Xavier.
The Ball State men's tennis team will be back in action at home Saturday against IUPUI. First serve is at 1 pm ET at the Northwest YMCA.
