Cardinals Sweep MAC Swim & Dive Awards

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - Ball State seniors Owen Chaye and Wyatt Blake have been named the Mid-American Conference Men's Swimmer and Men's Diver of the Week, respectively, after their performances at the Lewellen Athletic Center Saturday, and the Butler Invite Sunday.

Chaye, who earned swimmer of the week honors for the second time this season and fourth time in his career, started his weekend by anchoring the 200 medley relay to a first-place finish (1:31.20) versus Bellarmine on Saturday. Chaye also added a first-place effort in the 50 freestyle (20.72).

Sunday at the Butler Invite, Chaye provided the biggest highlight in the pool for the Cardinals with his first-place finish in the 100 freestyle (45.67). Chaye also swam in the second-place 200 medley relay (1:31.71).

Blake dominated the diving well last week, picking up four event wins for the Cardinals. A two-time career MAC Diver of the Week, he started strong in a diving-only dual versus Anderson by picking up wins on both the 1M (293.63) and 3M (318.83) boards.

Sunday at the Butler Invite, he followed with scores of 286.50 on the 1M board and 305.60 on the 3M board to earn two more event victories.

Chaye, Blake, and the rest of the Ball State men's swimming & diving program return to action Friday, Feb. 3 at 6pm EST (5pm CT) for a dual meet versus Valparaiso at the Valparaiso Aquatic Center.
