MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State women's basketball 12th-year head coach Brady Sallee announced the signing of two players to national letters of intent during the early signing period, which opened Nov. 8.
Grace Kingery (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville) and Zuri Ransom (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) are set to join the Cardinals for the 2024-25 season.
"We targeted big guard play with this class and I think we absolutely hit a bullseye with Grace and Zuri," said Sallee. "Their skill level is real and the fit they both have with our program from top to bottom is exciting! We are counting on big things from these two and I cannot wait for everyone to see Grace and Zuri on the floor in Ball State uniforms."
Kingery comes to Ball State with a hot shooting hand as she currently sits as the all-time leading scorer for both the girls and the boys' basketball programs at North Ridgeville High School with 1,305 points.
This 3-point shooter holds the record for the most 3-pointers in a season with 67 and for the most 3's in a single-game with nine.
A three- time First Team All-Southwestern Conference, All-Lorain County and All-District recipient, Kingery also was named special mention All-Ohio, All-Ohio Second Team and All-Ohio Third Team so far during her career with the Rangers.
Kingery not only is strong on the court but also off the court earning the certificate of excellence three times for maintaining a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or higher throughout the school year while also receiving scholar athlete all three years.
Brady Sallee on Kingery:
"We believe we are signing one of the best, if not the best, shooter in the Midwest. Grace is so skilled offensively and it is scary to think about how good she can be in our system. She will add some real length to our crasher positions, and we cannot wait to see Grace Kingery lighting it up from deep in the coming years."
A force to be reckoned with on defense, Ransom has earned Defensive Player of the Year along with being tabbed to the Most Valuable Player in tournaments and has been named to the All-Tournament team at Evanston High School.
As a sophomore she led the Wildkits in points (12.9), assists (2.6) and steals (3.5) per game. Her 7.5 rebounds per game was the teams second-best.
She received All-Central Suburban League honors and was a special mention on the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association's 4A All-State team.
Ransom comes from a wealth of basketball in Evanston both her father and grandfather were coaches while her brother Kamau is currently a wide receiver for the University of Indianapolis.
Brady Sallee on Ransom:
"I absolutely love the addition of Zuri to our program. We believe she can play anywhere in our offense and has the ability to be a major league three-level scorer here. She competes at a high level on both ends of the court and I believe will develop into an extremely high-level player here in Muncie. Cardinal Nation will love Zuri."
