Pfister Selected for NCAA Norman Regional
March 22, 2022 | Gymnastics
INDIANAPOLIS - - Ball State sophomore gymnast Suki Pfister will have at least one more vault this season, as she was selected to compete as an event specialist in the NCAA Norman Regional during the 2022 selection show Tuesday afternoon.
Pfister will compete on vault alongside Boise State in the final rotation of the opening session of Thursday's (March 31) second round action. The session is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT at the Lloyd Noble Center.Â
Â
The 2022 Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Year, Pfister ranks first in the league and 28th nationally with a NQS of 9.895. In her latest outing, Pfister earned silver at the MAC Championships last Saturday with a score of 9.850.
Â
Pfister was also named to the All-MAC First Team after finishing the regular season as the only vaulter in the league to record more than two scores of 9.900-or-better on the apparatus, scoring four.Â
Â
In BSU's regular season finale at Central Michigan (March 11), Pfister turned in the best vault in the MAC this season with a 9.950, which earned the Fort Wayne native her second MAC Specialist of the Week honor.
Â
With the effort, Pfister became only the fifth gymnast in program history to register a routine of 9.950-or-higher in any event. In fact, it was just fifth vault and 11th overall routine in program history to score that high.
Â
If Pfister ends regional competition with the top individual score from a non-championship qualifying team, she will earn the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships April 14-16 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
