Pfister Lands Spot On All-MAC First Team
March 18, 2022 | Gymnastics
CLEVELAND, Ohio - - In advance of Saturday's Mid-American Conference Gymnastics Championships, Ball State sophomore sensation Suki Pfister was honored by the league's seven head coaches with a spot on the All-MAC First Team.
Â
"We are all super excited for Suki," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "She has worked hard to be explosive and consistent on vault and that has shown in her performances this year. The hand front pike half is a difficult vault that she does really well. She is an amazing young woman that I enjoy having represent our program."
Â
Pfister has been one of the nation's top vaulters this season, ranking first in the MAC and 25th nationally with a NQS of 9.895. She is the only vaulter in the league to record more than two scores of 9.900-or-better on the apparatus, with a total of four.
Â
In last Friday's regular season finale at Central Michigan, Pfister turned in the best vault in the MAC this season with a 9.950, which earned the Fort Wayne native her second MAC Specialist of the Week honor.
Â
With the effort, Pfister became only the fifth gymnast in program history to register a routine of 9.950-or-higher. In fact, it was just fifth vault and 11th overall routine in program history to score that high.
Â
Pfister and the Ball State gymnastics squad will be back in action Saturday afternoon starting at 2 p.m. for the 2022 MAC Gymnastics Championships hosted by Eastern Michigan at the Gervin GameAbove Center.
