Wielonski And Huber Earn MAC West Weekly Awards

CLEVELAND - - For their role in guiding the Ball State women's volleyball team to a weekend sweep at Northern Illinois, sophomore setter Megan Wielonski and senior libero Maggie Huber both picked up Mid-American Conference weekly honors for the second time this season.
Wielonski was named the MAC West Division Setter of the Week for the sixth time in her career, while Huber earned MAC West Division Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in her career.
Thanks to their combined effort, the Cardinals limited the then-league-leading Huskies to their two worst attacking matches of the season, while passing NIU for the top spot in the MAC West Division standings.
Wielonski led all MAC players with an 11.71 assists-per-set average last week, setting the Cardinals to a .247 attack percentage in the two-match road sweep. She also turned in another solid effort in the backcourt, ranking second on the squad with 23 digs and a 3.29 digs-per-set average.
Wielonski registered her 13th double-double of the season in Friday's four-set win, with 54 assists and 16 digs. She added 28 more assists and seven digs in Saturday's sweep. She also led Ball State with three service aces on the weekend.
Huber led all MAC players with a 7.29 digs-per-set average last week, with her defensive play helping limit the Huskies to back-to-back season-low attacking marks; a .166 in Friday's four-set win and a .084 rate of success in Saturday's sweep.
Huber collected a season-best 30 digs in Friday's win, while adding 21 more in Saturday's sweep, giving her 51 total digs on the weekend. She also finished the two-match set with a perfect 1.000 reception percentage in 35 attempts.
It will be a busy week for the Ball State women's volleyball program which has three matches on the docket, starting Wednesday when it battles Toledo for the top spot in the MAC West at 6 p.m. inside Savage Arena.
