Dominique Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors
July 01, 2021 | Softball
MUNCIE, Ind. - - For the second consecutive season, Ball State softball senior outfielder Haley Dominique has been named to the Academic All-District Softball Team as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Â
The CoSIDA Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. First team honorees from all eight districts now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Ball State is in District 5 which includes schools from the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
Â
Dominique is a two-time Ball State graduate, earning her undergraduate degree in business administration in the spring of 2020 and completing her graduate certificate in public administration this past spring. In addition to the pair of CoSIDA honors, Dominique has earned Academic All-MAC honors three times over her career, is a two-time Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete and was a 2018 MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete.
Â
This past season, Dominique earned First Team All-MAC honors for the second time in her career after being the only player to start in all 55 games for the Cardinals. A 2018 First Team All-MAC selection and a 2017 MAC All-Freshman Team honoree, she took advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 global pandemic and the early cancelation of the 2020 season for a fifth year.
Â
She did not disappoint in her final season, ranking third on the team with a .368 batting average. Dominique tied for fourth in the MAC with a team-high 63 total hits, including eight doubles and three home runs. She also drove in 35 RBI, including three game-winners, and scored 24 runs, two of which scored what proved to be the winning run.
Â
Dominique finished her Ball State career ranked in the top 20 in virtually every offensive statistical category including runs scored (3rd at 150), hits (4th at 239), doubles (4th at 51), walks (4th at 112), at bats (4th at 714), on-base percentage (6th at .438), RBI (10th at 135), batting average (11th at .335), home runs (15th at 15), and slugging percentage (20th at .479).
