Men’s Volleyball Places League-High 18 Players on MIVA Academic All-League Team

MUNCIE, Ind. – For the second straight year, 18 Ball State men's volleyball players qualified for the 2020 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Academic All-Conference team.
More than 120 MIVA student-athletes earned this distinction with Ball State, Lewis and Ohio State leading the way with 18 members each. To be eligible, student-athletes must have achieved at least a career 3.0 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale after the completion of the spring semester at their respective institutions.
Among the BSU players to qualify were five seniors, five juniors, four sophomores and four freshmen. The complete list is below:
Sammy Adkisson, freshman
Nate Amos, senior
Bryce Behrendt, freshman
Ben Chinnici, junior
Ryan Dorgan, junior
Felix Egharevba, sophomore
Colin Ensalaco, junior
David Flores, freshman
Will Hippe, junior
Quinn Isaacson, junior
Kaleb Jenness, sophomore
Nick LaVanchy, senior
Nick Martinski, sophomore
Wil McPhillips, freshman
Jake Romano, senior
Courtland Scharenborg, senior
Brandon Shepherd, sophomore
Matt Szews, senior
Amos, LaVanchy, Scharenborg and Szews also completed their bachelor's degree this semester.
The men's volleyball team recorded a 3.57 GPA in the spring semester. The squad's cumulative 3.44 GPA is the best among all seven men's sports at Ball State.
