Three Football Players Named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society
April 10, 2019 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – Three recent Ball State football players were recognized by the National Football Foundations & College Hall of Fame (NFF) on the 2019 NFF Hampshire Honor Society Wednesday. The honorees are comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained at least a cumulative 3.2 grade point average throughout their college careers.
Offensive lineman Alex Joss, defensive lineman Fred Schroeder and defensive back Marc Walton were the Ball State representatives on the prestigious list. Joss was expected to start at left guard last fall but suffered a season-ending injury in the second game at Notre Dame.
Schroeder was the only player to start all 12 games on the defensive line. He piled up a career-high eight tackles at Toledo on Oct. 31. Walton was a consistent contributor in the defensive backfield for all four years on the squad. He played in 43 games throughout his collegiate career and racked up 104 tackles.
Members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must have: completed their final year of playing eligibility in 2018 (graduated players who have remaining eligibility but will not return may be included); been a starter or a significant contributor during the 2018 season; achieved a 3.2 GPA throughout entire course of undergraduate study; and met all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.
The annual Spring Game is this Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m. The complete spring practice schedule is listed here.
