Two Track Runners Graduate with MAC Presidential Honors
MUNCIE, Ind. - - Jessica Bryzek and Gabby Sims of the Ball State track & field program graduated Saturday from Ball State University as recipients of the Mid-American Conference Presidential Award.
 
The MAC Presidential Award recognizes graduating senior student-athletes who have achieved a 3.5 minimum accumulative grade-point average. Only those student-athletes whose eligibility is exhausted are eligible for this award.
 
Jessica Bryzek - Biology - 3.770
A four-year letterwinner for both the Ball State track & field and cross country programs, Jessica Bryzek is a five-time Academic All-Mid-American Conference selection. A four-time participant in the MAC Cross Country Championships, Bryzek owns a career-best 6K time of 23:13.8 set at this season's league championships. On the track, she owns career-best 5K times of 18:09.22 indoors and 18:22.54 outdoors.
 
Gabby Sims - Elementary Education - 3.918
A four-year letterwinner for the Ball State track & field program, Gabby Sims is a five-time Academic All-Mid-American Conference honoree and a four-time MAC Track & Field Distinguished Scholar Athlete. She has competed in nine events at the MAC Track & Field Championships over her career, with her best individual finish being an 18th-place effort in the 400m run at the 2016 MAC Outdoor Championships. Sims also ran a leg for the fourth-place distance medley relay at the 2017 MAC Indoor Championships which clocked a time of 11:51.32 to earn the program's first top-eight finish in the DMR since 2012 and the team's best finish in the event since winning the race in 2008.
