The Ball State gymnastics team is pleased to welcome two athletes to the 2019 program. Sari Thaler and Lauren Volpe are two of the six current freshman added to the Ball State roster for the upcoming season.
Sari Thaler hails from Cranston, RI where she trains at Aim High Academy. In 2016 Thaler was named the region six balance beam champion. In 2018 she was named the Rhode Island All-Around and Floor Champion. At the 2018 Regional competition she claimed silver on bars and beam. Also in 2018 she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals.
"Sari is an accomplished dancer and her background in dance is going to bring a unique level of quality to the Cardinal floor lineup," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "Her dedication to academics and athletics will drive her to succeed. I'm excited to see her enter the collegiate environment and thrive."
Lauren Volpe, a native to Libertyville, Ill., and five-time level 10 regional qualifier, competes for club gym Libertyville Gymnastics Academy. In 2018 Volpe claimed the region five bar title and placed seventh on floor.
"Lauren's spunky and fun personality is going to bring a lot of attitude to this Cardinal squad," head coach Joanna Saleem stated. "She swings bars and works beam like a seasoned veteran. I'm excited to watch Lauren grow and excel as a student athlete over the next several years."
Marina Livelsberger, Marissa Nychyk, Julia Wiest and Sandra Elsadek are the other members of the 2018 fall academic year and 2019 athletic season.
