Four Women's Tennis Players Receive Academic All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Seniors Carmen Blanco and Toni Ormond along with sophomores Audrey Berger and Isabelle Dohanics of the Ball State women's tennis team have been named to the 2017 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, as announced by the league office. This is the third for Ormond and the first for Berger, Blanco and Dohanics.
Blanco, an accounting major, owns a 3.923 GPA. She received All-MAC First Team honors this season. She finished the season with an overall singles record of 18-10 and went 19-8 in doubles play which included a 6-1 mark in league play alongside partner sophomore Peyton Gollhofer. Blanco also received All-MAC Second Team honors last season and was voted the MAC Tournament MVP.
This is the third straight season Ormond has earned Academic All-MAC honors as she owns a 3.961 GPA in teaching with an emphasis in foreign language. Ormond posted the second best record on the team this season (21-10) while also registering a 16-7 dual mark and a 6-2 conference ledger.Â
The two sophomores Berger and Dohanics are the final two Cardinals to earn Academic All-MAC honors. Berger, a business administration major, owns a 3.375 GPA, while classmate Dohanics has a 3.413 GPA in biology. Berger closed the season with the best overall mark on the team (22-7) while going 16-1 in dual action and 6-1 in conference action. Dohanics finished with an overall record of 18-12 while going 14-8 in dual play and 6-2 in league play.Â
Blanco, Ormond, Berger and Dohanics helped the Cardinals to their second straight MAC regular season title after Ball State's 4-3 defeat over Akron on April 22. As the regular season champion, Ball State earned the right to host next year's MAC Tournament again.
