Track & Field Places 10 On Academic All-MAC Squad

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - A total of 10 members of the Ball State track & field program were named to the 2016-17 Women's Indoor Track & Field Academic All-Mid-American Conference team as announced by the league office.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for their particular sport.

Of Ball State's 10 honorees, both junior Jessica Bryzek and senior Ericka Rinehart earned the award for the second time this school year, as both were named to the 2016 Academic All-MAC Cross Country team.

Rinehart has claimed a total of eight Academic All-MAC honors over her career, as she also earned the award in cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field the last two seasons. Bryzek picks up her fourth Academic All-MAC honor.

Senior Olivia Ashba earned Academic All-MAC honors for the fifth time in her career after sweeping the indoor and outdoor honors for the past two track & field seasons.
Â
Juniors Gabby Sims and Anna-Kay West picked up their third career Academic All-MAC honors, sweeping the indoor and outdoor awards last season.

In addition, senior Kassidy Swenson earnred Academic All-MAC accolades for the third time in her career, after also earning the honor for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 outdoor campaigns.

Ball State also boasts four first-time Academic All-MAC selections in junior Adrienne Mayfield, as well as sophomores Regan Lewis, Stephanie McElhaney and Peyton Stewart.

The Ball State outdoor track & field team returns to action Friday, March 24, when it travels to Raleigh, N.C., for the Raleigh Relays.
