Whitford to Wear High Heels Again for YWCA Event
September 22, 2016 | Men's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Men wearing high heels in late September is becoming a Muncie tradition, and the Ball State men's basketball program is happy to be a part of it once again.
Head coach James Whitford will don a pair for the Muncie YWCA's annual Put Yourself in Her Heels event Saturday. His team will also be on hand to support the cause and to take part in a meet and greet.
The downtown event, which runs Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to Noon at Canan Commons, is designed to raise awareness and support for the YWCA's Emergency Shelter and Transitional Resident Program for women and children.
Nearly 30 teams of prominent men from the community will be participating. The group includes Mayor Dennis Tyler, local business leaders and public safety officers.
The YWCA is accepting online donations for the event along with votes for the participants. Fans can cast a vote for Whitford and make a donation here: http://www.muncieywca.org/portfolio/coach-whitford-and-ball-state-mens-basketball-team/
The Ball State men's basketball team received the most votes at last year's event.
