June 14, 2016 | Gymnastics
MUNCIE, Ind.—Ball State gymnastics head coach Joanna Saleem has announced the addition of Scott Wilson as an assistant coach for the Cardinals.
“I am very excited to have Scott join the Cardinal Gymnastics family,” Saleem said. “He brings a wealth of high level gymnastics knowledge that will continue to support the success we have built over the past three seasons. He shares my expectations for creating a positive competitive environment for our student-athletes, and I can't wait for him to begin working in July.”
Prior to Ball State, Wilson spent eight years as an assistant gymnastics team coach at Team Attraction Gymnastics located in Apex, N.C. Under the direction of head coach Monica Ward, Wilson designed and implemented competitive curriculums for over 100 athletes ranging from compulsory to optional level of expertise. He also served as the primary liaison between NCAA programs and his athletes.
“I could not be more excited to be a part of the Ball State family,” Wilson stated. “I look forward to continuing and helping to advance the tradition of athletic and academic excellence Coach Saleem and her staff have fostered.”
Wilson earned his bachelor's degree in American History from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2010.
During his time at UNC, Wilson was a student manager for the Tar Heels' head coach Derek Galvin. His primary duties at UNC included student-athlete safety and aiding in home meet preparation.
In 2015, Wilson acted as a North Carolina USA gymnastics state congress clinician, where he developed and delivered solutions to challenges involving the transitions from lower to higher-level gymnastics.
In the same year he was an elected board member of the North Carolina USA gymnastics. Wilson aided in coordinating state and regional competitions and clinics.
