June 01, 2016 | Track & Field
CLEVELAND, Ohio - - A total of nine members of the Ball State track & field program were named to the 2015-16 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team as announced by the league office.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for their particular sport.
Of Ball State's nine honorees, both sophomore Jessica Bryzek and junior Ericka Rinehart earned the award for the third time this academic year, as both were also named to the Academic All-MAC Teams for cross country and indoor track & field. Rinehart has claimed a total of six Academic All-MAC honors over her career, as she also earned the award in cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field last season.
Three Cardinals, junior Olivia Ashba, senior Michaela Hull and senior Marie Lumpkin, earned Academic All-MAC honors for the fourth time in their careers, after sweeping the indoor and outdoor honors for both the 2014-15 and 2015-16 track & field seasons.
Senior Becca Kropf, sophomore Gabby Sims and sophomore Anna-Kay West picked up their second career Academic All-MAC honors, sweeping the indoor and outdoor awards this season. In addition, junior Kassidy Swenson also garnered Academic All-MAC accolades for the second time in her career, after also earning the honor for the 2014-15 outdoor campaign.
Ball State closed the 2015-16 season by scoring 14 total points at the MAC Outdoor Championships (May 12-14). The Cardinals' point total and five top eight performances were the most for the program since the 2012 outdoor championships. In addition, this season's 14 total points is equal to the combined total of the last three MAC Outdoor Championships combined.
