Andersen Earns Back-to-Back MAC Weekly Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Junior Lucas Andersen of the Ball State men's tennis team earned his second-straight Mid-American Conference Tennis Singles Player of the Week, the conference office announced Thursday.
Andersen helped the Cardinals close their MAC regular season with a 4-3 win over Toledo last Friday afternoon in Muncie, Ind. The match came down to the top court where Andersen took a three set thriller over the Rockets Stjepan Sisko. Andersen dropped his first set to Sisko, 6-4, before and then went onto clinch the match by taking sets two (7-6 (3) and three (6-4). Andersen alongside doubles partner Patrick Downs also posted a 6-3 victory over the Rockets at the No. 2 position.
With the win, Andersen finished conference play with a 6-1 singles mark.
The Ball State men's tennis team (12-11, 4-3 MAC) is set to compete as the No. 3 seed at the 2016 Mid-American Conference Tournament Friday in DeKalb, Ill. The Cardinals will take on No. 2 Buffalo at 2 p.m. Ball State defeated the Bulls, 4-3, on April 15.
