All-Access: Riley Neal's First Spring
April 27, 2016 | Football
In 1983 Neil Britt threw for 2,377 as a Ball State quarterback, his first year playing for the Cardinal and White. It took until 2015 for another debuting Cardinal to top that total when Riley Neal came on the scene.
The Cardinals offense learned on the fly last season with a true freshman quarterback. Neal tossed for 2,276 yards along with 16 touchdowns and just six interceptions this past fall. His first spring set up as a huge learning experience, especially with a new coaching staff establishing its system.
Ball State All-Access caught up with both Neal and Offensive Coordinator Joey Lynch last week before the spring game to talk about the rising sophomore's development over the last six weeks.
The Cardinals open their 2016 season September 2nd at Georgia State and their home schedule September 17th against Eastern Kentucky. For more information on Ball State football fans can follow the team on social media @BallStateSports and @BallStateFB.
