MUNCIE, Ind. - - Five members of the Ball State outdoor track & field team return to action Thursday, when they travel up I-69 to compete in the 25th Annual IWU Polar Bear Invitational hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University at the IWU Track & Field Outdoor Complex.
The Cardinals will send four throwers and one runner to the meet which is slated to start at 3 p.m. with action in the field events, including the women's discus featuring three Ball State student-athletes; Michaela Hull, Adrienne Mayfield and Marie Lumpkin.
Hull will have the busiest day of the five Cardinals entered in the meet, as she is slated to compete in the discus, hammer throw, javelin and shot put. Lumpkin is entered in both the discus and hammer throw, while Mayfield's lone event will be the discus.
Ball State's other two entries in Thursday's meet are Regan Lewis in the javelin and Jordan Timmons in the 800m run.
Lumpkin will be competing in the IWU Polar Bear Invitational for the third time in her career, as she finished fourth in the hammer throw as both a freshman (2012) and sophomore (2013). Lumpkin also took third in the discus as a freshman, while placing seventh in the event her sophomore season.
Hull will be making her second appearance at the Polar Bear Invitational, as she won the discus and placed third in the shot put at the meet as a freshman in 2013.
Following Thursday's meet, the entire Ball State outdoor track & field team will return to action Saturday, April 2, at the Miami Invitational.
