March 17, 2016 | Women's Golf
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State junior Kelsey Sear, fresh off a victory last week in Jacksonville, Fla., has been named the Mid-American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week.
Sear was the individual medalist at the Bulldog Florida Invitational and led Ball State to the team championship. The Unionville, Ontario, product carded a 36-hole total of 6-over par 150 (77-73) at Windsor Parke Golf Club.
Sear's 73 in the final round was the lowest of the tournament and gave her a one-stroke win over Western Michigan's Claire Hernandez and Evansville's Kayla Katterhenry.
It was Sear's second collegiate victory. She helped Ball State finish in a tie for first place on the team leaderboard with Western Michigan. The Cardinals won the tiebreaker based on fifth-player score to claim the title.
Ball State returns to Florida for its next event March 20-22 at the MSU Spring Citrus Challenge at Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento.
