Men's Swim & Dive Looks Forward To Conference Championships

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will compete in the four-day Mid-American Conference Championships at Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti, Mich. beginning Wednesday evening. Preliminary rounds start at 11 a.m. each day with finals beginning at 7 p.m., with the exceptions of the diving events taking place at 1 p.m. Thursday and Friday, as well as the 1650 freestyle taking place at 5 p.m. Saturday.

THE MAC CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM RUN-DOWN
The Cards are currently ranked sixth among MAC schools by CollegeSwimming.com. Missouri State is the favorite heading into the 2016 MAC Championships, while Southern Illinois and defending MAC Champion Eastern Michigan, are just behind Buffalo in third and fourth. Ball State is split between fifth-ranked Miami and seventh place Evansville to round out the rankings heading into the event.

LAST TIME OUT
Ball State concluded its 2015-16 dual meet schedule Feb. 13, in a conference loss of 171-127 to Miami. Last year at the 2015 MAC Championships, Ball State finished seventh with 127 points, while Eastern Michigan earned the title with 777.5 points. Over the course of the championship, Ball State earned 10 top-16 finishes, including six individuals. The team also had four top-eight finishes, while the Cardinals earned two top-eight individual finishes.
PRESEASON RANKINGS
Preseason polls had defending MAC Champion and host school Eastern Michigan topping the rankings, followed by Missouri State and Buffalo in the top three spots. Ball State was showcased in the preseason rankings at sixth, just in front of Evansville.
