February 03, 2016 | Gymnastics
MUNCIE, Ind.—The Ball State gymnastics team travels to Kalamazoo, Mich. Saturday, February 6, at 4 p.m. ET, to compete against the Western Michigan Broncos.
“Our goal this Saturday at Western Michigan is to build off of last weeks performances,” head coach Joanna Saleem said. “The team is really energized after having such rewarding routines at Central Michigan. They had so much fun competing and are really looking forward to showing the judges and fans the little corrections they have been working on this week in practice.”
The Cardinals suffered a 195.175 – 194.575 loss against Central Michigan last Sunday. The team score was the season high thus far in the competition season. The team matched its season's event high on vault (48.700) and managed two event highs on bars (48.550) and beam (48.650).
Jordyn Penny entered the Ball State record book on bars by scoring a 9.900 respectively. Denasiha Christian took home the vault title with a score of 9.800. Christian stood fourth on floor scoring a 9.825. Kayla Beckler and Baylee Bell tied for third on beam, both scoring a 9.800.
“Along with our stellar performances, we had such a great experience with the fans who traveled last weekend,” said Saleem. “We are hoping to hear their loud and exciting cheers again this weekend in Kalamazoo.”
