Four-Season Best Times Earn Women?s Swim & Dive Points

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Ball State women's swim and dive team is in eighth place with 121 points after rounding out the third day of competition at the 2016 Mid-American Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by Bowling Green.
Sophomore Traci Muszalski was the first to put points up for Ball State on the third of four days of competition as she touched the wall in 4:25.73 in the 400 IM event. The time earned Muszalski sixth place honors overall, as well as 13 points for the Cardinals' squad, and the time was a new career-best by over three seconds for the Dyer, Ind. native.
Ball State then had two competitors in the 100 breaststroke finals, including sophomore Amanda Kedzierski and senior Sydney Harris. Kedzierski clocked a new career-best of 1:03.67 to finish 10th overall, while Harris touched the wall at 1:04.83 for a new season-best time and 14th place overall. The pair combined to earn 10 points for the Cardinals.
Rounding out the day's action was the 400 medley relay competition. Ball State was able to clinch a sixth place finish with a new team-best of 3:46.52 by the combination of junior Courtney Mudd, Kedzierski, sophomore Andrea Richter and junior Jessica Extine. The time shattered the former team season-best by over nine seconds, which allowed Ball State to fly past both Toledo and Buffalo in the race.
Two-time defending MAC champion Akron continues to lead the competition as it heads into the final day of action with 494.5 points, while Eastern Michigan sits comfortably in second with 370.5 points, in front of Bowling Green, who holds 328 points.
The Cardinals return to Cooper Natatorium tomorrow morning for preliminary sessions starting at 11 a.m., followed final swims at 7 p.m.
