Relays Big For Women’s Swimming Once Again in Day Two of Miami Invite

OXFORD, Ohio – The Ball State women's swimming team finished day two of the Miami Invitational still sitting in seventh place with a score of 198. Just like in day one of competition, the majority of the Cardinals' points came from their strong performances in relays.
Ball State had two top 16 finishes in the 200 medley relay. Freshman Anne Vormohr, junior Amanda Kedzierski, junior Andrea Richter and senior Jessica Extine placed sixth in the event with a final time of 1:43.45, earning 30 points. Placing 11th in the event at 1:47.04 and earning 16 points for the Cardinals were senior Courtney Mudd, sophomore Mason Dahman, freshman Sophie Bader and freshman Peighton Gilbert.
A seventh place finish in the 800 freestyle relay added 28 points to the final score. The final time of 7:39.09 in the event was completed by Sophie Bader, Amanda Kedzierski, Lauren Elston and Liz Madison. The time was almost ten seconds faster than their seeded time of 7:48.63. Also in the 800 freestyle relay, Kimberly Scott, Audrey Mayer, Cassidy Blackwin and Morgan Brebberman had a 10th place finish at 7:54.42.
Two Cardinals earned points in their individual events. Junior Amanda Kedzierski added 10 points for the Cardinals after touching the wall at 1:04.97 and placing 10th in the 100 breaststroke. Freshman Anne Vormohr finished 13th in the 100 backstroke at 56.77, earning six points.
The Ball State women's swimming team will wrap up action in the Miami Invitational tomorrow.
