MUNCIE, Ind. -- Fresh off a career-best scoring game, Sean Sellers of the Ball State men's basketball team has been named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Week.
The junior from Greensburg, Indiana, carries a 3.545 GPA as a sport administration major. He was an Academic All-MAC selection and a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete last season.
Sellers scored 32 points Saturday as Ball State capped a 2-0 week with an overtime victory over Eastern Kentucky. He tied his career-high with seven 3-pointers, one shy of the school record, finishing 10 of 14 from the floor, 7 of 10 from 3-point range and 5 of 6 from the free throw line.Â
Sellers scored 22 of his points and hit five of his 3's after halftime to keep the Cardinals in a back-and-forth game. He did it all while playing 41 of the game's 45 minutes.Â
Earlier in the week, Sellers had 14 points, four rebounds and three assists in Ball State's win over Bradley. Over the two games, he managed 46 points on only 22 shots, going 15 of 22 from the floor and 11 of 16 from beyond the arc.Â
A 42.9 percent 3-point shooter for his career, Sellers is knocking down 47.5 percent from deep this season.
Ball State (6-4) is off from competition this week for final exams and will return to action Monday, Dec. 19 with a 7 p.m. tipoff against Longwood at Worthen Arena.
