Men’s Golf Second after Day 1 at ODU

Wiseman, McKinney lead team with rounds of 69

POWELLS POINT, N.C. -- The Ball State men's golf team counted three under-par rounds Sunday to position itself in second place out of 18 teams at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate.
Timothy Wiseman and Keegan McKinney carded rounds of 69 (-2) to finish the opening day in a tie for fifth place individually. Wiseman's score was the lowest of his college career.
Michael VanDeventer was one stroke behind them with a 70 (-1), marking his fifth under-par round in the past seven. Michael Makris provided the team's fourth counting score with a 73 (+2).
Ball State's team score of 281 (-3) was its fourth straight round of 287 or better dating back to Notre Dame's Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic.
The Cardinals are two shots behind first-place Akron with two rounds still to play at Kilmaric Golf Club. They are one stroke ahead of tournament host Old Dominion.
A trio of players shares the individual lead after rounds of 67 (-4): Bowling Green's Pablo Heredia Iglesias, Akron's J.B. Williams and La Salle's Andrew Reynolds.
The second round of the tournament will be played Monday. Ball State will be in the final wave of tee times off hole No. 1 starting at 10 a.m.
