Mitch Prather of Men’s Swimming Named Homecoming King
October 20, 2016 | Men's Swimming and Diving
MUNCIE, Ind. – Senior swimmer Mitch Prather is a star in the pool, in the classroom and on campus.
To kick off the 2016 Homecoming week, the Homecoming Committee announced this year's King and Queen on Monday, the honors going to Mitch Prather and Delta Zeta's Samantha Johnson.
"I'm extremely honored to be chosen as Homecoming King, and to have the chance to represent the university that has given me so much," Prather said. "It is easily one of the greatest recognitions I've ever gotten, because it lets me unify all the aspects of campus I'm involved in, from athletics to academics to Greek life and religion."
Prather is extremely active on Ball State's campus. He is an active member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and president of the Exercise Science Club on top of his swimming commitments. While most students would be overwhelmed with so many responsibilities, Prather embraces it.
"I've been able to balance school and swimming successfully with everything else thanks to the help from Student Athlete Support Services and some great positive support from my roommate Tanner Barton and all my teammates," Prather adds. "It just takes a lot of time management to get it all done!"
The senior swimmer has earned two letters during his time at Ball State. Last season, Prather was named to the Academic All-MAC Team with an impressive 3.9 grade-point average.
Be sure to catch Prather and the whole 2016 men's swimming and diving team Friday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. as they take on Albion College in the Lewellen Aquatics Center.
