The Cardinals Nest
- The two Mid-American Conference leaders fight head-to-head Saturday when Ball State hosts MAC East Division leader Ohio Saturday at 4 p.m. in Worthen Arena. Ball State is 14-4 overall and 6-1 in league action. The Cardinals have won five in a row and eight of their last nine contests and is looking for revenge over the Bobcats after losing 73-48 in Athens on Jan. 6. Ohio continues to remain in first place in league action with a 16-3 overall record and an 8-0 conference ledger. Both teams are the only two teams in the MAC that remain undefeated at home. Ball State is looking to improve to 10-0 in Worthen Arena Saturday and Ohio recently improved to 7-0 in the Convocation Center after its 75-55 victory over Akron Wednesday.
- Senior guard Nathalie Fontaine continued her assault on the Ball State women's basketball scoring record Jan. 20 after scoring 27 points to lead the Cardinals to a 76-54 Mid-American Conference victory against Eastern Michigan in Worthen Arena. Fontaine entered the game tied with Kate Endress for second on the Cardinals' career scoring list. Her 27 points upped her total to 1,870. Fontaine then chipped in 15 points in a 77-53 victory at Western Michigan, Jan. 23. She trails only Tamara Bowie's total of 2,091. Fontaine enters today's game with 1,885 career points.
-The last time Ball State went 9-0 at home was in 2006-07 under former head women's basketball coach Tracy Roller. That season the Cardinals went 10-1 in John E. Worthen Arena with Ball State's only loss coming against Ohio (66-77) on Jan. 27, 2007. Ball State also posted a 14-1 mark at home in 2008-09 under former head coach Kelly Packard with the only loss coming against Temple.
- Head coach Brady Sallee emphasis how important points in the paint mean to him and the Cardinals have listened this season. Ball State has outscored all of their opponents in the paint but four this season. - Ball State head women's basketball coach Brady Sallee reached his 200th career win at Bowling Green, Jan. 16. Sallee currently owns a 201-160 (.554) career record. Sallee owns a 65-51 (.556) record at Ball State and ranks second all-time in wins. Former head coach Tracy Roller (2001-08) ranks first with a 118-73 record.
