#BSUHC15: Ball State Takes on Undefeated Toledo
September 30, 2015 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – After three straight road games, the Ball State football team finally returns home this Saturday. The Cardinals welcome undefeated Toledo to Scheumann Stadium as part of Homecoming weekend.
Saturday afternoon's game will air on the American Sports Network and ESPN3 beginning at 3 p.m.
Ball State (2-2, 1-0 MAC) nearly pulled off an upset over No. 17 Northwestern last weekend. The Cardinals may be facing an even tougher test from Toledo (3-0, 0-0). The Rockets have already defeated then No. 18 Arkansas and Big XII opponent Iowa State.
Offensively, Ball State will turn to freshman QB Riley Neal for a second straight start. Neal tossed two touchdown passes against Northwestern and also led the Cardinals with 74 yards rushing. Ball State's defense forced three turnovers against the Wildcats and has come up with at least two turnovers in nine of the previous 11 games.
Toledo ranks first in the MAC in scoring defense (14.0 ppg) and among the league leaders in turnover margin (+5). Last weekend, the Rockets' defense forced five turnovers and held Arkansas State to minus-14 yards rushing in a dominating 37-7 win. Toledo is sitting just outside the latest Associated Press top-25 poll at No. 26.
