Gameweek: Ball State Takes on Undefeated Northwestern
September 23, 2015 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – For the second time this season, the Ball State football team finds itself facing a nationally ranked opponent. Northwestern is undefeated and enters the game ranked No. 17 in the latest Associated Press poll.
Saturday night's contest will air on the Big Ten Network beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
Ball State's (2-1, 1-0 MAC) offense has been running on all cylinders thus far. The Cardinals have rushed for at least 200 yards in all three games including a season-high 287 yards last week at Eastern Michigan.
On the flip side, Northwestern's (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten) defense has been as stingy as any in the country this year. The Wildcats lead the nation in scoring defense (5.3 ppg) and rank sixth nationally in total defense (235 ypg). Northwestern's defense has allowed only one touchdown in three games and hasn't allowed a point in the second and third quarters.
This is the fifth time in the last six seasons that Ball State has faced a Big Ten program. The Cardinals defeated Indiana in both 2011 (27-20) and 2012 (41-39).
