September 01, 2015 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – After nearly a month of preseason drills, meetings and scrimmages, the Ball State football team finally takes to the gridiron to face VMI Thursday night at Scheumann Stadium. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3 beginning at 7 p.m.
Ball State finished the 2014 season with a 5-7 record, but did win four of its last six games which included a 41-21 win in the season finale at Bowling Green. With starting QB Jack Milas in the lineup last year, the Cardinals averaged 30.2 points per game. On defense, Ball State forced at least two turnovers in seven of its eight MAC games and ended the year with a +9 turnover margin.
VMI is under new leadership this year. Head coach Scott Wachenheim was brought in to help the Keydets improve upon their 2-10 record from one year ago. VMI features the 2014 SoCon Freshman of the Year at quarterback in Al Cobb. He threw for nearly 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns last year.
