MAC Announces Men?s Basketball League Schedule
August 28, 2015 | Men's Basketball
COMPLETE SCHEDULE
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Mid-American Conference released the league's men's basketball schedule Friday for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
Ball State's schedule features home-and-home series against MAC East Division opponents Ohio and Miami. The 18-game schedule also includes one game against each of the other four East Division teams and a home-and-home series against each of the Cardinals' five fellow West Division members.
For its other games against the East Division, Ball State will play at home against Kent State and Akron and on the road against defending league champion Buffalo and Bowling Green.
“The MAC schedule is once again very competitive and will provide challenges throughout,” Ball State coach James Whitford said. “Our league has made great strides in the past few years, and this year should be another strong one, especially in the MAC West. We are excited for the season ahead.”
League contests will be played on Tuesdays and Saturdays with the exception of the opening game, which will be played on a Wednesday, and the final game, which will be played on a Friday.
Ball State will open the MAC slate Jan. 6 against Toledo at Worthen Arena. The Cardinals will close the regular season March 4 at Northern Illinois. The team's final five games will all be played against the West Division, including two against NIU.
The MAC Tournament will begin March 7 with first-round games on campus sites. The top four seeds will receive first-round byes and advance to Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. Unlike recent years, there is no longer anything more than a single bye for the top seeds.
The MAC is coming off its most successful season in recent history. The league was ranked as the 11th-toughest in the nation by Ken Pomeroy a year ago
