Sbircea Joins Women's Tennis For 2015-16 Season

MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State women's tennis head coach Max Norris announced Julia Sbircea has committed to play at Ball State for the 2015-16 season.
"We are excited to bring Julia to Ball State,” Norris said. “She is a great person and a very hard worker. Julia already has one year of college tennis experience, playing for UNF who made the NCAA Tournament last season. She also comes from arguably the toughest state (Florida) in the country for junior tennis. I think Julia will make an immediate impact due to her experiences and weapons. We are excited to get started."
Sbircea, transferred to Ball State from the University of North Florida. In 2015, she was a member of the UNF squad which won the Atlantic Sun Conference. In her lone season with North Florida, Sbircea went 8-5 in singles play.
During her United States Tennis Association junior career, Sbircea earned second place in the 18's singles 2013 USTA North Miami Designated Tournament. In addition, she was a member of the 2013 Florida 18's advanced team, which finished fifth nationally.
A native of Boca Raton, Fla., Sbircea attended West Boca High School. She is the daughter of Hildegard and Julian Sbircea. Julia plans to major in sports administration at Ball State.
