August 13, 2015 | Men's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State men's basketball team will play eight of its first 13 games at home in the 2015-16 season. The program announced its full non-conference schedule Thursday.
As part of the home slate, the Cardinals will host 2015 NCAA Tournament participant Valparaiso and projected West Coast Conference contender Pepperdine.
“We are excited about continuing some in-state rivalries and bringing in some good opponents,” head coach James Whitford said. “We are also happy to have eight home games, which is important for our fan base and for our team to get the season off to a good start.”
Ball State will open the season Nov. 13 at Bradley and play its first home game Nov. 16 against Eastern Illinois. The team will play a three-game, round-robin tournament in the @EKUHoops Classic at Eastern Kentucky the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Following that event, the Cardinals will play seven of their final eight non-conference games at home, including contests against Valparaiso, Pepperdine and IUPUI. The only road game during that stretch is a trip to long-standing rival Indiana State.
Ball State plays its final non-league game on New Year's Eve against Chicago State. The Mid-American Conference slate, which will be announced later, begins in January.
