Women's Volleyball Opens Practice For 2015 Season

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State women's volleyball team held its first official practices of the 2015 season Monday in Irving Gym of the Jo Ann Gora Student Recreation & Wellness Center.
Under the direction of sixth-year head coach Steve Shondell, the Cardinals return 13 student-athletes, including 11 letterwinners, from last season's squad which turned in a 17-13 (11-5 Mid-American Conference) record and finished second in the MAC West Division.
Overall, the Cardinals will be led on the court by its six-member senior class which is highlighted by a pair of 2014 All-MAC First Team selections in setter Jenna Spadafora (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) and middle hitter Kelly Hopkins (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo).
The Ball State women's volleyball team opens its 2015 season Aug. 28-29, when it hosts the Ball State Active Ankle Challenge. The Cardinals' first match will be against Albany Friday (Aug. 28) at Noon.
Ball State fans can get their first look at the Cardinal and White one week earlier, when the squad hosts its annual Alumni Match Saturday, Aug. 22 at 10 a.m.
