MUNCIE, Ind. -- Coming off back-to-back 11-win seasons, the Ball State soccer team has announced its schedule for the 2015 campaign, including road trips to Indiana and LSU.
The Cardinals open the regular season Aug. 21 at Jacksonville State and play their home opener Aug. 28 against Wright State at the Briner Sports Complex.
Ball State will also play non-conference games against Indiana, LSU, Middle Tennessee, Morehead State, IPFW and Lipscomb -- all away from home.
“We believe the program has moved forward and is ready for some new challenges,” Ball State coach Craig Roberts said. “We will provide the program with these challenges by playing against a variety of different teams with different styles, both locally and out of region.
“The demanding schedule will serve us well in preparation for the MAC season and will also provide us with educational experiences as we travel around the country.”
The Cardinals open Mid-American Conference play Sept. 25 against Eastern Michigan at the Briner Sports Complex. They also have league home games against Kent State, Ohio, Akron and defending conference champion Buffalo.
Ball State will play league road games at Bowling Green, Toledo, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan and Miami.
The top eight teams in the conference standings will advance to the MAC Tournament. The quarterfinal round will be played Nov. 1 on campus sites with the semifinals and finals to be played Nov. 6-8 at the site of the highest remaining seed.
Ball State reached the semifinals of the tournament for the second straight year in 2014. The Cardinals ended the season at 11-7-2 overall, finished second in the MAC West Division and led the league in scoring with 32 goals.
